The Moberly Area Community College men’s basketball team will have to forfeit its next two games following Tuesday night’s skirmish at the end of the game at Iowa Western Community College. The Greyhounds lose their final two home games of the regular season, Saturday against State Fair, and Tuesday against Indian Hills.

Officials stopped the game with 11.6 seconds left, with the Hounds trailing 95-92, when a scramble for a rebound led to pushing by both teams and the benches clearing. Head coach Pat Smith says the incident should not be seen as a reflection of his players or the school. Smith does not expect any further punishment from this incident for his players because no punches were thrown.

The Hounds are now 21-8, and will finish the regular season a week from Saturday at Missouri State-West Plains. They will be the number two seed in the Region 16 Tournament, and will play the third seed at 8pm Friday, February 28th in Hillsboro.

The Hounds have a strong basketball tradition with a nation leading 27 National Tournament appearances, 4 national championships, 3 national runners–up and 4 third place finishes.
