“I have accepted Jack Clark’s retraction and apology to resolve my lawsuit against him and clear my name,” Albert Pujols said in a statement released Monday evening.  That’s how the defamation suit against the former Cardinal and radio host Jack Clark has ended.

Last August on his radio show, Clark said he knew for a fact that Pujols was “a juicer.” Pujols has maintained he has never used performance enhancing drugs. In a statement late Monday, Clark said “I would like to address Albert Pujols’ pending defamation lawsuit and re-confirm that I have no knowledge whatsoever that Mr. Pujols has ever used illegal or banned PEDs. I publicly retract my statements that Albert Pujols used such substances. During a heated discussion on air, I misspoke and for that I sincerely apologize.”

Pujols is entering his third season with the Los Angeles Angels.  He’s coming off a season in which he played in just 99 games and hit .258 with only 17 home runs and 64 RBIs…all career lows.
