Mizzou and Ole Miss, similar in several ways (Google Hangout)

February 7, 2014 By Bill Pollock

The bulk of scoring from both teams comes from the play in their guards.  Senior Jabari Brown is trying to downplay his matchup with Marshall Henderson of Ole Miss, when Missouri hits the road one more time to face the Rebels at 4 p.m. Mizzou got another solid offensive effort from the junior tandem of Brown (15 points) and Jordan Clarkson (14 points) at Florida, including a career-high tying six assists and zero turnovers from Brown … In all of college basketball this season, the combined 38.8 points coming from Brown (20.1 ppg) and Clarkson (18.7 ppg) ranks No. 4 nationally.

Missouri freshman Johnathan Williams, III, went to high school in Memphis and Southwind High School was just 45 minutes away from the Ole Miss campus.  Frank Haith says a party bus is making the trip to cheer on Williams.

Ole Miss Junior G Jarvis Summers is one of the most improved players in the SEC as he ranks eighth in the league in scoring at 17.5 points per game and has increased his scoring 8.4 ppg over his last season average . He also ranks sixth in the conference with a 50.8 field goal percentage and third in assists at 3.8/game. He is the only player in the league to rank in the top-10 in the SEC in scoring and field goal percentage and top-five in assists.

Senior G Marshall Henderson leads the SEC and ranks third in the nation averaging 4.26 3-pointers per game. Henderson has hit a 3-pointer in a school record 55-straight games and became just the fourth player in school history to join the 1,000-point club in just two seasons.

Ole Miss ranks second the SEC and sixth in the nation, averaging 6.7 blocked shots per game. Junior F Aaron Jones is ranks third in the league, and 40th in the nation, averaging 2.4 blocked shots per game.
