Mizzou in need of an SEC win against USC (Google Hangout)

January 24, 2014 By Bill Pollock

The Missouri men’s basketball team is home to face South Carolina on Saturday afternoon as the Tigers look to even their SEC record at 3-3 and bounce back from a tough road loss at LSU on Tuesday night. Jordan Clarkson, Jabari Brown and Earnest Ross scored 63 of their 71 points in the loss to LSU the other night. On the season, the trio has scored just about 70% of the team’s points.

The Gamecocks are 0-5 in SEC play. They have a very talented freshman guard by the name of Sindarius Thornwell, averaging 18 points a game and shooting nearly 55% in those five games. Brenton Williams is a deep threat as well, averaging 12 a game in the SEC, shooting 32% beyond the three-point line. They have a hard time holding onto the basketball, about 18 turnovers per game.

Will and Matt from our Columbia affiliate KTGR talk with me about this game and Mizzou’s chances for a tournament bid.
