Michael Wacha received a warm welcome in Jefferson City during the Cardinals Caravan

As we waited with close to 100 fans who were on a V.I.P. list to see the Cardinals Caravan roll through Jefferson City on Friday evening, it was clear that many of the fans were there to see one player in particular…2013 NLCS MVP Michael Wacha.

Why not? In nine starts during the 2013 regular season, Wacha went 4-1 with an ERA of 2.78 with 65 strikeouts in 64.2 innings pitched. Then turned around in five playoff appearances and went 4.1 with a 2.64 ERA and an even better strikeouts per nine innings ration of 9.7.

Wacha figures to be a member of the Cardinals starting rotation when they break camp in late March. He talks about this offseason, what he’s worked and what he expects this season.
