Teams will set their sights on taking down the Tigers (Google Hangout)

January 8, 2014 By Bill Pollock

This time last year Missouri fans had long turned their attention to basketball and were anticipating the Tigers first year in men’s hoops in the SEC. This year, the feeling has been much different. An extended football season with a game in December and January and a top five finish to close out the year.

Next season, it’s a different story. The Tigers will have the targets on their back. Phil Kornblut of SportsTalkSC.com thinks the SEC East will be wide open next year with just about every team getting a new starting quarterback. Phil thinks the team that assembles the best defense will get the edge.

The Tigers lose 3 of 4 starters in the secondary, 2 of 3 starting linebackers and half their starting defensive line. Kony Ealy is leaving for the draft and Michael Sam, Donovan Bonner, Andrew Wilson, E.J. Gaines, Randy Ponder and Matt White are finished.

Phil and I tie up some loose ends around the SEC in this Hangout. We talk about the success the conference had this bowl season and get Phil’s thoughts on the four-team playoff starting next season.  Watch and enjoy.
