The St. Louis Blues started their three-game road trip in Edmonton and used two power play goals and a big second period to push past the Oilers. Maxim Lapierre, David Backes and Vladimir Tarasenko scored in the second of their 5-2 win. Chris Stewart scored in the first on the power play, and Patrik Berglund added an empty-netter in the third.

After Nail Yapukov tied the game, Lapierre gave the Blues a 2-1 lead at the 2:18 mark of the second. Less than three minutes later, Edmonton knotted the game, before Backes’ power play goal put the Blues up for good at the 10:56 mark.

Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo and Jay Bouwmeester were named to Team Canada’s Olympic squad earlier in the day, giving the Blues ten Olympic players from various countries.
