Chiefs lose grip on AFC West

December 1, 2013 By Bill Pollock

Peyton Manning threw for 403 yards and five touchdowns, and four of them to Eric Decker, as the Broncos beat the Chiefs 35-28 to seize control of the AFC West with a one game edge in the standings and a season sweep of KC.

Jamaal Charles had 93 yards rushing for the Chiefs, and capped a 17-play drive with a 1-yard touchdown run with 6:32 left in the game to pull the Chiefs to within a touchdown. The defense forced a punt with 3:32 remaining and Alex Smith drove the Chiefs down field all their way from their own eight. On a 4th-and-4 with 1:45 left, Smith’s pass to Dwayne Bowe in the endzone was knocked away preserving the win for Denver.

Smith threw for 293 yards and two touchdowns and Knile Davis returned a kickoff 108 yards as the Chiefs jumped out to a 21-7 lead before Manning and Decker helped the Broncos scored 28 unanswered points.
