Mizzou vs Ole Miss 2nd Quarter Summary

November 23, 2013 By Missourinet Sports

-The Rebels commit a false start penalty on 4th and goal from the 1 yard line so they bring on the field goal unit and the Tigers come up with a big block of the field goal attempt and the Tigers get out of an Ole Miss drive that reached the Tigers 1 yard line without allowing any points.  Rebels drive was 19 plays and 85 yards

-Mizzou starts at their own 20 yard line following the blocked field goal and once again the offense goes three and out putting the defense back on the field quickly.  The Rebels start at their own 29 after a Missouri punt.

-Ole Miss gains one first down on a Wallace pass completion but the Tigers defense steps up and forces a punt giving Mizzou the ball at their own 10 yard line with 10:41 left in the quarter.

-Quarterback Maty Mauk enters the game for the Tigers and on 3rd and 8 he hits Bud Sasser for a 60 yard completion.  Mizzou reaches the Ole Miss 5 yard line and with first and goal they commit a holding penalty and can’t overcome that miscue.  Andrew Baggett is called on and hits a 33 yard field goal to put Missouri up 10-0 with 7:31 left in the quarter.

-Ole Miss starts at their own 25 yard line and they get a big 3rd down completion from Bo Wallace to Donte Moncreif for 41 yards and that sets up a 30 yard field goal try by Andrew Ritter that is good.  With 4:06 left in the quarter the Missouri lead is trimmed to 10-3.

-James Franklin comes back in at quarterback for Missouri and quickly leads the Tigers on a scoring drive that results in a 3 yard touchdown run by Marcus Murphy.  Franklin was 3 for 3 on the drive including a 27 yard strike to Marcus Lucas.  Missouri leads 17-3 with 1:37 left in the quarter.

-Ole Miss starts from their own 25 yard line and they get to the Missouri 44 yard line.  With :03 seconds left in the half Andrew Ritter tries a 61 yard field goal and it comes up short.
