Brown and Ross named to All-SEC basketball team

November 8, 2013 By Bill Pollock

Mizzou Basketball had two players named to the Southeastern Conference’s 10th annual men’s basketball coaches preseason All-SEC first and second teams on Friday. Junior guard Jabari Brown was one of eight players named to the SEC’s first team, while senior guard Earnest Ross was a second team selection.  Missouri was one of five schools with multiple players represented on the two squads.

Brown averaged 13.7 points and 3.4 rebounds and started the season’s final 23 games after becoming eligible following his transfer from the University of Oregon. In SEC play, Brown was Missouri’s leading scorer (14.6 ppg) and ranked among league leaders in scoring (7th), free throw percentage (9th – .778) and three-point percentage (6th – .376) in conference games.

Ross averaged 10.3 points and 5.0 rebounds as a junior. The 6-foot-5 guard was the SEC’s top bench scorer a year ago averaging 11.0 points when coming off the pine. He is also Mizzou’s top returning rebounder and double-double producer (three) from 2012-13.
