Alex Steen (L) celebrates his 13th goal with David Backes (R)

Alexander Steen scored his NHL leading 13th goal in 13 games and Chris Stewart also scored for the Blues who improve to 9-2-2, with a 3-2 shootout win over the Montreal Canadiens. The Blues won for the fourth time in five games as T.J. Oshie was the lone shooter to score in the shootout.

Former Canadien Jaroslav Halak stopped Tomas Plekanec on a penalty shot with 48.9 seconds to play in regulation, then didn’t allow a goal in the shootout helping beat his former team at Bell Centre in Montreal.

“It’s always great to come back to the Bell Centre and play here,” said Halak, who played for the Canadiens from 2006-10. “It’s more fun when we win.”

Credits Habs goalie Carey Price and the defense for keeping this game close. The Blues dominated forcing Price to make 30 saves and their defense blocked 38 shots.
