An announcement regarding the future of Missouri State Penitentiary will be made tomorrow in Jefferson City.

A-Hall or Housing Unit 4 is the oldest building on the grounds of the Missouri State Penitentiary, dating back to 1868.  The prison dates back to 1836.

Governor Jay Nixon says he will join Senator Mike Kehoe and local leaders in Jefferson City to make the announcement. Tours of the historic prison were halted last month after testing revealed higher than acceptable levels of mold in the prison’s structures.

The announcement is open to the media only and will be made at 10:30 the Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau.  Follow @Missourinet on Twitter for the latest.
