Missourinet Mornings–Governor Nixon soaking in sporting success (VIDEO)

November 4, 2013 By Bill Pollock

I’ve talked about it for a couple of weeks. There is not a hotter state right now in terms of successful sports teams than here in the Show Me State. The Missouri Tigers are ranked 9th in football and 7th in volleyball after improving to 27-0. The Chiefs have an unblemished record at 9-0 and the Cardinals won the National League pennant.

Following Saturday’s win over the Tennessee Volunteers, Governor Jay Nixon congratulated some of the Tiger football players as they came off the field. The Governor was gracious enough to spend a minute answering a couple of questions on sports in Missouri.

Oh and one final side note…After taping, I asked him if he would be ready for another NCAA Bracket Challenge against me and he said absolutely. He said he would need to study up a little more this time. I gained a big advantage two seasons ago, after he picked Mizzou to win the National Title. To the Governor’s defense, who would have expected the Tigers to choke as a #2 seed?  (And, he kind of had to pick Mizzou to win, I mean, he is the Governor and all).
