-Missouri starts the 3rd quarter with the ball at their own 41 yard line after a nice return by Marcus Murphy. The Tigers were moving the ball but a South Carolina sack of Mauk results in a nine yard loss and the Tigers would eventually punt. The Gamecocks start their first drive of the second half at their own 13 yard line.
-South Carolina would reach the Mizzou 32 yard line but on 4th and 6 an incomplete pass in the end zone gives the Tigers the ball back.
-Mizzou is able to put together a sustained drive with the big play a 3rd down 3 conversion on a 28 yard pass to Lucas. That comes after an unsportsmanlike penalty on South Carolina. The drive stalls at the South Carolina 9 yard line and Andrew Baggett is called upon to try a 27 yard field goal that is good. With 6:46 left in the quarter Missouri takes a 17-0 lead.
-South Carolina begins their next possession at their own 25 yard line. Connor Shaw enters the game at quarterback. The Tigers looked like they had forced a quick three and out but a roughing the passer penalty on Markus Golden keeps the drive alive. A sack by Shane Ray helps force a South Carolina punt on the next series and the Tigers take over at their own 26 yard line with 2:59 left in the quarter.
-Mizzou is unable to move the ball on the possession and after a three and out they punt. South Carolina starts at their own 35 with 1:46 left in the quarter.
