Mizzou sophomore linebacker Kentrell Brothers was named the Southeastern Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week. Brothers intercepted Bulldog quarterback Aaron Murray inside the final minute of play for his third pick of the season.

Brothers was a highly sought-after prospect out of the state of Oklahoma who was a three-year starter at both linebacker and wide receiver for Guthrie High School. He was named the Daily Oklahoman Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, when he registered 100 tackles and 19 sacks.

After spending 2011 rehabbing from an injury, Brothers played in 11 games in 2012 and finished with 14 tackles.
