Some propofol returned by Department of Corrections

October 9, 2013 By [email protected]

The state corrections department has returned its doses of the European version of Propofol to the Louisiana company that sold it to the department.  But the department says it still has some left that was produce domestically.

The supplier of the German-made version had asked for the return. The European Union has talked about limiting export of Propofol to the United States if it is used for executions.

The department apparently plans to use its domestic Propofol for an execution in two weeks.  A second execution is scheduled for next month.

Department officials have not returned calls from the Missourinet seeking additional details.
