Vianney High School’s Markel Smith set a MSHSAA football rushing record by racking up 541 yards and seven touchdowns in a 48-41 win over Washington. The previous record was set in 2007 by CBC’s Rayon Simmons with 533 yards.  Smith’s previous career high came last season also against Washington, when he ran for 437 yards. According to Yahoo Sports, Smith (5’10, 210 lbs.) has received college offers from Mizzou, Ole Miss, Iowa and Illinois.
