Former Cardinals MVP and current Angels first baseman/DH Albert Pujols filed a lawsuit against former Cardinal and radio host Jack Clark over comments he made in early August on his radio program that Pujols took performance enhancing drugs.  Clark made the accusations after his on-air partner Kevin Slaten said he believed Pujols “has been a juicer.”

Clark added his own thoughts.

“I know for a fact he was,” Clark said. “The trainer that worked with him, threw him batting practice from Kansas City, that worked him out every day, basically told me that’s what he did.”

Pujols denied the accusations immediately, threatening to sue Clark and the radio station for comments he felt were “irresponsible and reckless.”

The suit claims Clark’s statements are lies that have damaged Pujols’ reputation, causing him personal humiliation, mental anguish and anxiety. WGNU or the company that contracted the airtime from the station were not named in the suit.
