If I was going to lose a no-hitter, I’d want the first hit to be a line drive in the gap, kind of a no-doubter…not a high chopper that goes over my head and forces one of my infielders to make a spectacular play. Unfortunately, that happened to Cardinals rookie Michael Wacha last night in the Cardinals 2-0 win over Washington.

The Cardinals are 1/2 game behind Atlanta for the best record in the NL.  The Reds lose to the Mets and the Pirates beat the Cubs. The Cardinals magic number in the NL Central drops to 3.

Wacha finished 8.2 innings with that one hit, two walks and nine strikeouts.   If you missed Wacha’s performance, check it out again on this Missourinet Mornings video.
