If I was going to lose a no-hitter, I’d want the first hit to be a line drive in the gap, kind of a no-doubter…not a high chopper that goes over my head and forces one of my infielders to make a spectacular play. Unfortunately, that happened to Cardinals rookie Michael Wacha last night in the Cardinals 2-0 win over Washington.
The Cardinals are 1/2 game behind Atlanta for the best record in the NL. Â The Reds lose to the Mets and the Pirates beat the Cubs. The Cardinals magic number in the NL Central drops to 3.
