If saves were a stat earned by fielders, mark Alex Gordon down for one.  Should probably give one to Salvador Perez too while we’re at it.  Gordon threw out a runner at the plate in the tenth inning, then scored on Perez’s two-out double in the 12th to lift the Royals over the Seattle Mariners 6-5 on Monday night.

Perez made a great move to get back to the plate and get the tag down as well.  Watch the replay courtesy of MLB.com

The Royals picked up a .5 game on Cleveland who was off and trail by three for that second wild card spot with six games to play. Texas is one game behind the Indians.
