Alex Smith threw two touchdown passes in his Kansas City Chiefs debut and the defense harassed Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert all day as the Chiefs opened the Andy Reid era with a 28-2 win.

Gabbert was only able to get the Jags past their own 35 yard line just once. Their only points came early in the game, when Jacksonville blocked a Dustin Colquitt punt attempt through the back of the end zone.

Gabbert completed 16 of 35 passes for 121 yards, sacked six times and threw two interceptions, including one that Tamba Hali returned for a touchdown. Gabbert left late the game, and team trainers looked at his injured thumb. Chad Henne replaced him and led the Jaguars to the 3-yard line, but they failed to score.

Jamaal Charles added 77 yards rushing and one touchdown.  Smith was 21 of 34 for 173 yards and TD passes to Donnie Avery and Junior Hemingway.
