Here is a summary of the 3rd quarter as Toledo takes on Mizzou at Faurot Field

Toledo starts the quarter with the ball at their own 25 yard line… The Rockets drive is kept alive on a penalty on linebacker Andrew Wilson for “targeting”.  The penalty comes with an automatic disqualification.  The Missouri defense later comes up big when Markus Golden intercepts a pass by Terrance Owens and returns it 70 yards for a touchdown to give the Tigers a 24-9 lead with 11:40 left in the quarter.  Golden was penalized 15 yards on the play for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Toledo then gets a 59 yard kickoff return from Bernard Reedy to the Missouri 38 yard line to start their next possession…4 plays and 38 yards later Terrance Owens takes it into the end zone for a 4 yard touchdown run and it cuts the Tigers lead to 24-16 with 9:53 left in the quarter.

Missouri’s next possession results in a 3 and out when Franklin is stopped on 3rd and 1 on a quarterback keeper.  The punt gives Toledo the ball at their own 40 yard line with 7:52 remaining in the quarter.

The Rockets then get a 41 yard touchdown pass from Terrance Owens to Alonzo Russell.  They elect to kick the extra point instead of go for two and it’s Missouri 24-23 with 4:22 left in the quarter.

Mizzou starts their next possession at their own 25 yard line and they promptly march the ball down the field for a touchdown on the quarter’s final play.  Henry Josey takes it in on a 1 yard carry.  James Franklin with a big 21 yard run set it up first and goal.

End 3rd Quarter: Missouri 31 Toledo 23
