He made comments on his Facebook page about climbing the bell tower at Northwest Missouri State University with a high-powered rifle and a gatling gun. Now, he’s in jail, but not for those comments.

When authorities searched Matthew Rouch’s house they found an “elaborate” marijuana growing operation.

Prosecutors searched Rouch’s home to confirm whether he indeed only owns a pellet gun, which he told them when saying his Facebook comment had only been a joke. The search confirmed that, but also turned up several pot plants under heated lights, multiple baggies of the drug and paraphernalia.

Rouch is charged is production and possession. Prosecutors say he will likely not be charged for his Facebook comment.

Rouch is a faculty member at Northwest and has been placed on administrative leave and barred from campus pending an internal investigation.
