QB Bray shines in Chiefs final preseason game

August 30, 2013 By Bill Pollock

Undrafted rookie quarterback Tyler Bray, from Tennessee, threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Chiefs to a 30-8 win over Green Bay as both teams sat their starters for the regular season. Earlier this week, Ricky Stanzi was cut in favor of Bray, who will be the Chiefs #3 QB behind Chase Daniel and starter Alex Smith.

Bray hit Junior Hemingway for his first touchdown pass late in the first half, and connected with Josh Bellamy and Frankie Hammond Jr. for TDs in the second half.

More bad news for the Chiefs at the tight end position. Travis Kelce, who has already missed time in practice with a sore left knee, left in the first half with another knee injury. Tony Moeaki fractured his shoulder in last week’s game against Pittsburgh. An MRI on Kelce will be performed Friday morning, but Andy Reid is not concerned.

The Chiefs open the season against Jacksonville.
