August 25, 2013 By Bill Pollock

After a 19-5 run out of the All-Star break, the Royals have lost seven in a row and 10 of  their last 12,  following Saturday night’s 7-2 loss to the Washington Nationals. Jordan Zimmerman went 7.2 innings, allowing two runs and eight hits. He struck out seven and walked just one.

Wade Davis (6-10) allowed seven runs and eight hits in six innings, including Ian Desmond’s two-run home run in the sixth. He walked three and struck out four. The Royals tied the game at one in the third with three singles off Zimmerman, including Hosmer’s run-scoring hit into left-center. All nine of KC’s hits were singles. The Royals tacked on a late run in the 8th.
