The trends I’m seeing from the Cardinals starting rotation are a bit concerning. GM John Mozeliak did not go out and get a starting pitcher at the July 31 trade deadline…its a move that could hurt the Cardinals.
My issues are with Jake Westbrook and Lance Lynn. Westbrook will start this afternoon at Milwaukee having lost his last four decisions. On June 19, his was 3-2 with a 1.76 ERA. He’s gone 4-6 since then and his ERA shot up to 4.35. Lynn was 10-1 on June 20. Since then, he’s gone just 3-6 including last night’s loss to the Brewers.
At this point, I don’t like the Cardinals backup plan.
