You figure Yadier Molina would know Kyle Lohse better than any other Cardinals hitter. He caught Lohse during the 2012 season when the righty went 16-3. Molina homered in the fourth inning for his 10th of the season to give the Cardinals a three-run lead, but Milwaukee rallied for a 6-3 win.

Matt Adams drove in Molina with a single in the second and with Carlos Beltran on base in the fourth, Molina took Lohse deep for the 3-0 lead.

The wheels came off in the bottom of the fourth inning for Lance Lynn. He gave up five runs after Milwaukee’s first six batters reached, loading the bases twice with no outs. Scooter Gennett drove in the first run with a single. Aramis Ramirez singled and Khris Davis reached on Lynn’s fielding error, Sean Halton drove them in three. Logan Schafer followed with an RBI single and Norichika Aoki tacked on a sacrifice fly.

Pittsburgh topped San Diego 8-1 to increase their lead to two games over St. Louis.
