Chicago White Sox starting pitcher John Danks won for the first time since July 2. He’s just 3-10 on the season, but he improved to 5-0 in 13-career starts against the Royals and continued his mastery in a 2-0 win for the Sox.

Gordon Beckham homered off Ervin Santana (8-7) in the first inning for the only earned run. The other Sox run came in the second, when a passed ball disappeared behind padding back behind the plate, allowing Paul Konerko to score from third.

Danks had command of the strike zone as he worked eight innings throwing exactly 100 pitches and 71 of those for strikes. The Royals managed seven hits and a walk, but went 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position.
