Albert Pujols, out since July 26 when he tore his plantar fascia in his left foot, in a game against Oakland, will shut down for the rest of the season. A decision that was made between Pujols and the Los Angeles Angels’ training staff and ownership.

The three-time NL MVP just got out of a walking boot and has been rehabbing. His plan was to come back in September, but with the Angels out of contention, the team urged Pujols to give himself time until next spring training.

The Angels still owe Pujols $212 million over the next eight years in the third-biggest contract in major league history.
