Mizzou fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Two players who expect to make a impact on this 2013 team were held out of practice on Tuesday morning because of injuries. Fortunately, those injuries are minor and cornerback E.J. Gaines and running back Henry Josey will only miss a short amount of time.

Gaines wore a brace and has a strained patella tendon. Josey is out with hamstring soreness. Gaines should be back in about a week according to Chad Moller, Media Relations Director for Mizzou. Josey is listed as day-to-day.

Josey rushed for nine times and gained 19 yards, but he had one run of 14 yards in Saturday’s scrimmage. Gaines was active for the defense on Saturday. He had one of four sacks on the day, showing great speed from the outside. He also had an interception when James Franklin under threw Dorial Green-Beckham. Gaines, at 5’11, got up and snagged the ball away from the taller, 6’6, DGB.

Fall practice continues all this week, with the team’s second major scrimmage set for Thursday morning.
