A north St. Louis County couple is facing elder and animal abuse charges after police found the woman’s 70-year-old mother living in their home infested with bugs and overrun by animals that had soaked it in urine and feces.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Barbara Endicott and her boyfriend Richard West have been charged with misdemeanor elder and animal abuse.
After police and the health department discovered the conditions in the home, the couple hired a cleaning service and were allowed to reoccupy it, but inspectors Wednesday found the urine odor had returned and the couple has been given until Sunday to remedy it.
The mother is still living in the home.
