Andrelton Simmons hit a two-run double in the eighth inning off Trevor Rosenthal with the bases loaded to lift the Atlanta Braves past the Cardinals, 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. Matt Holliday accounted for one of the hits with a double in his return from the DL.

Atlanta starter Julio Teheran allowed two hits in seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Jon Jay accounted for the other hit with a double.  Joe Kelly matched Teheran with zeroes, going 6.1 scoreless innings.

In the eighth, Randy Choate (1-1) walked Freddie Freeman. Evan Gattis struck out and Brian McCann singled. Rosenthal relieved Choate and battled back to strike out Dan Uggla before walking Chris Johnson to load the bases. Simmons’ hit his double to left-center.

Craig Kimbrel recorded three outs on seven pitches for the save.
