Authorities investigating dead dogs dumped on Southeast Missouri highways

July 25, 2013 By Mike Lear

Authorities want to know who is brutally killing dogs in Southeast Missouri.

The Missouri Department of Transportation confirms its workers have found five pit bulls and one American bulldog in ditches along state routes or highways in the Sikeston area. A post circulating on Facebook says all the dogs had severe injuries such as broken bones and large gashes on the body. One found dead near the Highway Patrol’s Troop E headquarters had a broken jaw and scarring on its feet and a marking across its muzzle that indicates its mouth was tied or wired shut.
