Former Royals catcher Brayan Pena drove in two runs and Miguel Cabrera homered to help the Detroit Tigers salvage one game at Kauffman Stadium as they beat the Royals 4-1 on Sunday. Cabrera leads the majors with 96 RBIs and 134 hits.

His homer in the first gave Detroit a 1-0 against Royals starter James Shields. Miguel Tejada tied it in the second with his third home run and the 307th of his career.

It that was the only run the Royals would score off Doug Fister and three relievers. Fister pitched six strong innings, yielding a run, while allowing six hits and striking out five and walking one.

Andy Dirks broke the tie with a home run with one out in the fifth to straightaway center, just get over Jarrod Dyson’s leap at the wall.
