Chris Carpenter to make rehab start in Springfield

July 15, 2013 By Bill Pollock

While most major league ball players are enjoying time off away from the game during the All-Star break, Chris Carpenter is getting ready to work tonight. The former Cy Young Award winner will make a rehab start for the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field, when they host the Arkansas Travelers at 7:09 p.m.

The 38 year old Carpenter is trying to work his way back onto the major league roster from nerve issues that have limited him to only three regular season starts since 2011. Carpenter also pitched in three postseason games last year, before symptoms sprouted up again before the start of spring training.

Carpenter’s pitch count will be limited to somewhere in the 60’s range.
