Robinson Cano hit a three-run homer, Lyle Overbay added a grand slam and the New York Yankees snapped out of a small offensive funk with an 8-1 victory over the Royals on Wednesday. Cano and Overbay both connected off Wade Davis (4-8), who dropped his third consecutive start.

Just like Tuesday night, Eric Hosmer doubled in Alcides Escobar in the 8th for the Royals only run of the game.

The teams wrap up their four game series Thursday afternoon. Derek Jeter, who has missed the entire season recovering and rehabbing from a broken ankle suffered in last season’s American League Championship Series, will be activated and in the lineup at either shortstop or DH.

Ervin Santana will start for the Royals.  He’s gone 17 straight starts with at least six or more innings.  The Royals will get lefty Andy Pettite.
