Westbrook gets hammered by the A’s

June 30, 2013 By Bill Pollock

Jed Lowrie hit a towering blast to right-center field and Josh Donaldson homered as well as the Oakland A’s victimized Cardinals starter Jake Westbrook with seven extra base hits in a 7-5 win. The A’s have the best home record in the AL by taking two of three in this interleague series. Oakland has won 16 of its last 19 games at the Coliseum.

The Cardinals hit three homers off A’s starter Tommy Milone and put runners in scoring position in four of the six innings he worked, but couldn’t get the best of Oakland, who rallied from deficits of 3-0 and 5-2.

Carlos Beltran, Allen Craig and Matt Carpenter all homered for the Cardinals.
