Missourinet Mornings–No surprise here from the NBA draft (VIDEO)

June 28, 2013 By Bill Pollock

No real surprises for me in the NBA Draft as far as looking at ties to Missouri. The overall number one pick was a surprise, because all we heard is that Nerlens Noel would go to Cleveland, but Anthony Bennett a power forward from UNLV, was the number one pick.  Sikeston, Mo. native Otto Porter staying in the Beltway.  The Georgetown product was picked third overall by Washington Wizards.  He’ll join St. Louis, Chaminade product Bradley Beal on the Wizards.

I thought Alex Oriakhi had the best chance of any Missouri Tigers of getting drafted.  6’9, 255 pounds. 54 blocks and 20 steals, great rebounder he was 40 of 46 shooting in his final seven games of the season.

I wasn’t shocked, in fact I thought it was a mistake for Phil Pressey to try this year’s draft.  I felt every game, he was playing for NBA scouts and his best interest and not those of Mizzou.
