Mizzou softball signee Casey Stangel of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was named the MaxPreps 2013 National High School Softball Player of the Year.  The soon-to-be Tiger hit .640 with 16 home runs and 64 RBIs and a 1.393 slugging percentage while pitching to a 28-0 record with 208 strikeouts in 143.0 innings.  Stangel helped lead Lake City to its second Class 5A State Championship in three years after also playing on its 2011 title team. In 2013, she compiled a 0.73 ERA in the circle.

Stangel recently received her third-straight Idaho Player of the Year award. She was a Third Team NFCA High School All-America honoree last season.
