The Southeastern Conference will be represented at the College World Series in Omaha. Mississippi State will face UCLA in a best of three series that starts tonight. Mizzou lost to the Bulldogs in the opening round of the SEC tournament, 2-1 in 17 innings.

Mississippi State beat Oregon State twice and Indiana once to advance to the finals against UCLA, who hasn’t lost a game in Omaha yet. Hunter Renfroe hit a three-run homer in the decisive game over Oregon State on Friday. Renfroe tied LSU’s Mason Katz at the top of the SEC home run list for 2013 and is ninth nationally.

Shortstop Adam Frazier leads the nation in hits and set the school’s single-season record with 106 in 2013. Frazier went 3 for 8 in that marathon win over the Tigers.  Closer Jonathan Holder picked up the save on Friday against Oregon State and became the Bulldogs career saves leader (30), surpassing Van Johnson (1995-98).

UCLA’s sophomore closer David Berg’s appearance on Friday was the 99th of his career and 49th this year. He is the NCAA single season record holder with 24 saves. UCLA is built on pitching.
