Jefferson City native and former Missouri Tiger star Justin Smith, signed a two year contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers, which will run through the 2015 season. However, Smith told the San Francisco Chronicle, that when the time comes for him to get out of the league, he’ll be the first one to open the door.
“I won’t be a guy that’s around for 10 snaps, 20 snaps. It’s either I’m going (to play full-time), or I’m not going. When it’s time to get my ass out of here, I’m going. I get a ticket like everybody else, so that’s what I’m doing.”
Smith is coming off end of the season surgery on his right triceps which was torn late during the regular season. He missed a couple of regular season games, snapping a streak of 185 straight starts.
