The Major Indoor Soccer League is expanding into the St. Louis Market and will begin play this fall as the St. Louis Ambush. MISL had teams this past season in Independence (Missouri Comets), Milwaukee, Baltimore, Chicago, Syracuse, Wichita and Rochester, N.Y.

Games will be played at the Family Arena. Missouri Sports Holdings is the ownership group that will oversee the team. They also run an arena football team, the Missouri Monsters. A minor league hockey team will also begin playing at Family Arena this fall, the St. Charles Chill.

Indoor soccer is played on artificial turf on a hockey-rink-sized field surrounded by dasherboards and Plexiglas.  The goals are 8′ by 14′ and are built into the end boards.  Each game consists of four 15-minute quarters, all goals scored will be worth two points, except goals scored from at or beyond the 45-foot arc surrounding the goal, which are three points. Power plays and free substitution of players while play continues are also noticeable differences than the outdoor game.
