The first round of the 54th MWGA Junior Championship at Lake Valley Golf and Country Club is in the books. We have a close race in Camdenton, MO for the Missouri Junior title and to qualify for the Missouri Junior Girls Four State Team.
Jean Tyrrell of Leawood, KS (Blue Valley North H.S.) is leading with a first round score of 75. Madison Frerking of Blue Springs, MO (Blue Springs South H.S.) is in second place with a 77. Defending Champion Jordan Chael of Overland Park, KS shot an opening 78 with Brooke Cusumano of St. Louis (Westminster Christian Academy), Taylor Black of Warrensburg, (Warrensburg H.S.) and Mariah Peters of Blue Springs (Blue Springs H.S.) shooting 79.
The 14-15 year old division is being led by Mindy Hennrick of Wildwood, MO and Amber Wilson of Linn Creek, MO with an 89. Mia Kovkach of Gardener, KS leads the 12-13 year old division with an impressive 82.
The final round began at 8:00 a.m. Friday morning.
