Former St. Louis senator slapped with fine for misspending campaign funds

May 16, 2013 By Jessica Machetta

A former St. Louis state senator is being fined more than a quarter million dollars by the ethics commission.

The commission says Robin Wright-Jones spent $270,000 on everything from shopping to events tickets to car repairs to video games.

The commission says if she pays $56,000 of the fine within 90 days, the rest of the fine will be waived. Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, who now holds that district seat, calls the situation “unfortunate.”
