Billy Butler broke out of his 4-for-35 slump by going 5-for-5 and driving in five runs as the Royals kept Joe Blanton winless in eight starts with an 11-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night. The win snapped a three game losing streak. Butler feels he’s ready to break out.

“I knew I had been getting closer, but it’s just one game,” Butler said. “You’ve got to come out and do it consistently. Hopefully, I’m on that upward streak now.”

Butler tied his career high for hits and has three games this season with five or more RBIs in a game.

Luis Mendonza was handed a 10-1 lead and gave up two more runs before turning the game over to Luke Hochevar, who pitched the final three innings, qualifying for a save. It was Mendoza’s first win of the year. Albert Pujols drove in a run for the Angels.
