Nate Schierholtz hit a two-run homer and the Cubs snapped the Cardinals’ six-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory Tuesday night at Wrigley Field. Lance Lynn made one mistake and it cost him his sixth win of the season.  Lynn allowed just four hits and a walk while striking out eight in seven innings. With two outs in the fourth, Alfonso Soriano reached on a two out single before Schierholtz homered to center.

The Cardinals offense couldn’t muster up much against Cubs starter Travis Wood. Allen Craig’s leadoff homer to left in the second was the only run the Cards could muster off Wood who allowed five hits and two walks while striking out eight in 6.2 innings.

The Cardinals put together a two out rally in the eighth, but Yadier Molina was caught stealing third, when reliever Carlos Marmol stepped off the mound and threw to third. Molina jumped a little too soon and Marmol was ready. Just prior to that, Molina stole second.
