Ubaldo Jimenez came into Monday night’s series finale for Cleveland with a 10.86 ERA. He pitched into the 8th inning and the Royals could only manage three hits and a couple of walks as they lost to the Indians 9-0. Wade Davis saw his ERA jump from the low three’s to 5.55 after giving up eight runs in 4.2 innings.

“A tough night. They hit some good pitches off Wade, but they hit some mistakes, too,” Royals manager Ned Yost said. “Wade wasn’t up in the zone, but a lot of the balls they hit were catching a little too much of the plate down.”

The Royals won the first two games of the series, but were outscored 19-3 in the last two. Jimenez, a former All-Star is not the same pitcher he used to be, but for one night, he certainly looked it against the Royals. Before Monday night, Jimenez had not won a game since Aug. 9, 2012, dropping his last eight decisions.
