Glaser shines in Missouri State spring game

April 20, 2013 By Bill Pollock

A dramatic 71-yard touchdown pass from Ashton Glaser to Julian Burton on the final play of the afternoon put the wraps on Saturday’s annual Missouri State Spring Game at Plaster Field with Glaser leading the second-team unit to a 14-10 come-from-behind victory. Glaser, the former Missouri Tiger, finished 8-for-17 through the air for 207 yards, while first-team starter Kierra Harris was 13-for-22 for 82 yards.

Burton was one of a handful of standouts on the offensive side, securing 7 receptions for 113 yards, while Marvell Saffold notched 4 catches for 84 yards.

The first-team offense had much more success on the ground than their counterparts, collecting 5.5 yards per carry and 164 yards total behind the efforts of sophomore Ryan Heaston. Heaston had 10 carries for 110 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown run to lead the first unit.

After 109 official plays, Head Coach Terry Allen then blew the whistle and called the teams together with just over four minutes showing on the game clock.  “The turnovers were disappointing, but we played five different quarterbacks. All in all, it was a pretty good day,” said Allen. “We have some guys who can make plays offensively, and I still like the potential of our defense.”

The MSU defense snagged three interceptions, including two by Jeremiah Plowden and one by Howard Scarborough. Rique Bentley led all players with 10 total tackles with Seginald Chaney, Tevan Ferguson, John Edwards and Christian Hoffmann each contributing 7 total stops.
