The Missouri Tigers baseball team committed five errors and Illinois pounded out 11 hits as the Tigers lost to the Illini for the first time at Busch Stadium, in a 6-2 final on Tuesday night in St. Louis. It was also the first Tigers loss to Illinois since 1988.

Mizzou’s offense was quiet against six Illini pitchers. The Tigers managed just seven hits and one of their runs were unearned.

Jordan Parr scored the first run of the game in the fourth inning when he stole third and raced home once the throw got by the Mizzou third baseman. Mizzou tied it up 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth, but the Illini scored three runs in the top of the sixth to jump ahead 4-1. Back-to-back singles, a triple and sacrifice fly put the Tigers in a hole.

Illinois tacked on insurance runs in the seventh and ninth innings, securing the victory and snapping a five-game losing streak to Mizzou, which included losses in the previous two games at Busch Stadium in 2010 and 2012.
