Matt Holliday went 2-for-2 and drove in the game’s only run in the first inning as the St. Louis Cardinals edged the Miami Marlins, 1-0, on Thursday in spring training play.

Jon Jay had two hits and scored the winning run for the Cardinals, who saw starter Lance Lynn last six scoreless innings and allow two hits while striking out five batters in the victory.

Juan Pierre, Giancarlo Stanton and Justin Ruggiano accounted for Miami’s three hits in the setback, while starter Justin Nicolino gave up one run on six hits and struck out five over five innings.
